Jhpiego, an affiliate of the Johns

Hopkins University, is an international NGO committed to improving the health

of women and their families. 


Jhpiego-Kenya works in close

collaboration with both the Ministry of Health at National level and with

County Governments in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB, Maternal, Newborn and

Child Health, Reproductive Health, Family Planning and Non-Communicable

Diseases.

Jhpiego – Kenya is currently recruiting experienced individuals with excellent

leadership, organizational and technical skills; who are team players,

dedicated, hardworking, innovative, highly motivated and able to work in a high

pressure environment requiring multi-tasking abilities.
 



Director of Programs

Reporting to the Kenya Country Director, the Director of Programs will provide

high level managerial and technical oversight and guidance to Jhpiego Kenya

programs.




S/he will work closely with the

Country Director, who is responsible for the strategic direction and technical

oversight for the Kenya office. 


S/he will also work closely with

Project Directors and program implementation teams to ensure project resources

are applied appropriately (e.g. human, financial and material) and program

targets and deadlines are met. Key technical areas for support include

reproductive health, family planning, malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS, Hypertension,

maternal, newborn and child health.

  • Provide programmatic and strategic leadership

    and set priorities for programs in collaboration with the Country Director

    and program teams

  • Provide technical oversight to program

    managers that facilitate their ability to develop and implement

    technically-sound interventions

  • Supervise program management staff and oversee

    preparation of annual work plans, implementation and reporting of project

    activities

  • Represent Jhpiego to donors and partners

  • Represent Jhpiego in public and professional

    circles through meetings and conferences

  • Liaise with Jhpiego HQ technical team to

    ensure Jhpiego standards and approaches are met

  • Mentor, support, and manage a team of highly

    qualified staff and align their efforts in concert with program goals

  • Contribute to proposal management, design,

    writing, and editing and contribute to new program development

  • Guide the analysis, synthesis and reporting of

    project outputs and results in close collaboration with the M&E team

  • Provide updates to the County Director on the

    progress made, direction, approaches and successes of programs and share

    experiences and lessons learned among staff

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Medical or

    related field. PhD would be an added advantage


  • More than 10 years of professional,

    progressively more responsible program management experience in international

    public health programs

  • More than 5 years’ senior level working

    relationship with international donor agencies’ programs and policies,

    particularly USAID

  • Previous experience establishing and/or

    managing a complex international health program

  • Demonstrated significant knowledge of one or

    more of the following areas: reproductive health, child health, TB,

    malaria, Hypertension and/or HIV/AIDS

  • First-hand experience in strengthening of

    health services, health provider training, performance improvement, or

    supervision

  • Superior human resource management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with pleasant

    and outgoing personality

  • Excellent verbal, written communications and

    presentation skills

  • Computer literacy, particularly in the use of

    MS Office


Service Delivery Officer (Migori)

Jhpiego is implementing T-Zone Life Planning, an innovative private sector

health and life skills delivery network made up of young health worker

entrepreneurs, as well as contraceptive service delivery activities targeting

adolescents and youth.




The project is being implemented in

Migori & Mandera and its goal is to contribute towards a reduction in teen

pregnancy and ultimately maternal death in intervention sites.



Reporting to the Program Manager, the Service Delivery Officer will form part

of a team based in Migori, S/he will be responsible for the planning,

implementation and monitoring of the project.
 

  • Provide technical support to the project team

    in the planning and implementation of the project

  • In collaboration with other stakeholders,

    develop T-Zone service delivery activities

  • Provide technical assistance and support for

    the integration of adolescent-focused services into existing clinical

    service

  • Liaise with other partners to ensure

    availability of contraceptive commodities, equipment and expendable

    supplies in all service delivery outlets

  • Support monitoring and evaluation of the

    program, including assisting in operations research

  • Oversee the linkages between service delivery

    at the facility and the community and between public and private sector

    collaborators

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of T-Zone

    service delivery activities and assist in the preparation of monthly,

    quarterly and annual reports

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Kenya

    Registered Nurse or Clinical Officer

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in implementation

    of youth-focused health programs

  • Demonstrated competency in FP service

    provision and supportive supervision of the long acting and permanent

    methods of contraception

  • Extensive experience working with private

    sector health care providers, including pharmacists

  • Competent in development and implementation of

    work plans, monitoring and evaluation activities and reports

  • Computer literacy, particularly in the use of

    MS Office

  • Demonstrated sincere passion for working with

    young people
