Purpose: The Financial Accountant will be responsible for directing and overseeing the financial activities of the Company, financial reports, annual accounts and forecasts.
 



 


Key Responsibilities


  • Preparing all monthly financial and management reports within set deadlines, including profit & loss account, balance sheet, trial balance, bank reconciliations and reports and tax returns for government regulatory agencies.

  • Managing and overseeing the annual audit function, including preparation of consolidated financial statements in International Accounting Standard format.

  • Recommending and implementing internal accounting controls and procedures.

  • Liaising with External Company Auditors in year-end audits and ensuring that financial statements are finalized on a timely basis.

  • Identifying areas of cost reduction or elimination and areas of reorganization.

  • To familiarize self with all accounts payable control, accounting, quality and other relevant company procedures ensuring that these are strictly adhered to and also familiarization with relevant computer packages.

  • Ensuring that all Credit notes for material returns and damages due to quality are issued on time by the supplier.

  • Ensuring payments to suppliers are within the agreed payment terms and all variance issues are addressed beforehand.

  • Ensuring that diligent payment planning is in place and maintain a forecast payment cash flow plan report. Effectively dealing with supplier account queries, including liaising with other departments, to ensure they are brought to a satisfactory conclusion.

  • To ensure all supplier queries are addressed, communicated and closed satisfactorily.

  • Ensuring that all Supplier invoices are captured and entered daily into the IQ and Sage with 100% accuracy.

  • Ensuring that all cheque and direct payments are posted on a daily basis into the IQ and Sage.

  • Effective and timely updating and reconciliation of sales ledger on a weekly and monthly basis and address all Dr balances

  • Ensuring reconciliation and posting of Accruals and provisions on a monthly basis.

  • Ensuring that all supplier statements are received queried and reconciled and any discrepancies addressed with the supplier. This is with respect to LPO vs GRN vs Invoice quantities and values shown on the respective documents and highlight the variances and close with the supplier effectively.

  • Dealing with new accounts and ensuring satisfactory credit references are obtained, setting up the account details on the IQ and Sage & communication to all relevant parties.

  • Amending supplier accounts details / addresses etc., as required.

  • To inform the Head of Finance immediately of all important developments / problems and report on status of supplier accounts on a regular basis.

  • Displaying a confident and assertive manner at all times when dealing with internal and external suppliers.

  • Promoting an efficient and professional image at all times demonstrated by the highest possible standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Continuous review of all administrative procedures, paperwork, etc. in your area and the suggestion of proposals for improvement.

  • All other reasonable administrative duties related to the creditors control function, including filing and archiving.

  • Putting forward to your supervisor/manager any personal training needs that you identify from time to time, and undertake personal training and development as required.

Critical Qualifications / Skills / Experience

Education Qualifications



  • CPA or ACCA qualifications.

  • A Graduate or Masters in Finance will be an added advantage.


Experience


  • Experience in leading teams of not less than Five (5).

  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior financial management position in a large organization.

  • In depth knowledge of International Accounting Standards and tax regulations.

  • Results oriented with key demonstrated achievements strategy formulation, budgets, cash flow and management reports.

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of major accounting software programmes and IQ AND Sage.

  • Extensive experience in cost reduction programmes, annual business planning and budgeting, and variance analysis.
