Position: Shift Supervisor
Grade: Four
Reports To: Production Manager
Supervision: Machine Operators
Main External Contacts: Suppliers and Contractors
Main Internal Contacts:
- Maintenance team
- Production Team
- Quality assurance team
Broad Function: The shift supervisor is responsible for direct supervision operation activities for machines and structures in the plant and offices to ensure that they operate in a reliable, efficient, safe, and sustainable manner.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
- Overseeing and participating in machines preparation for production
- Ensuring that only quality products are produced as per specifications and standards.
- Ensuring that all safety and health regulations are followed and adhered to.
- Minimizing costs by reducing waste generation and maintaining agreed efficiencies.
- Participating and monitoring continuous improvement activities.
- Set up production personnel work specifications and standards and ensure they are met.
- Manage personnel under production section.
- Participate in training of machine Operators on correct machine handling in order to achieve high level of efficiency.
- Participate in machine/equipment installation and commissioning.
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects for plant machinery and structures.
Person Specifications
Academic Qualification: Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Professional Qualifications: Registered Technical Engineer
Experience: At least five working experience in shift supervision, three of which must be in a busy manufacturing company
Skills
- Technical Knowledge of Electrical engineering
- Technical Knowledge of production machinery
- Good supervisory and interpersonal skill.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications
- Ability to interpret engineering drawing and make engineering sketches.
- Ability to work under pressure
