is a grassroots organization based in Machakos Kenya that empowers street
children and youth with formal and vocational education.

Reports To:

Works with: the Board and Location: Machakos, Kenya
staff
- Helps
board members, the program director, staff and volunteers to identify,
cultivate and solicit charitable gifts. - Stays
informed of grant opportunities in Kenya and plays a lead role in
developing proposals. - Develops
and maintains a grants calendar that keeps track of deadlines for grants
and reports. - Draws
up periodic reports for well-wishers and donors that communicate the
results of monitoring and evaluation, including an annual report. - Works
with staff to ensure the smooth use of monitoring and evaluation tools. - Updates
Jitegemee’s Twitter and Facebook with photos and stories about the
children in the program. Prepares updates for the website. - Assists
the staff and board to implement fundraising campaigns through Mpesa. - Assists
the program director in scheduling meetings with the local board and
supporting the local board in their duties. - Assists
the program director in responding to requests for information,
photographs and written reports about the program.
The ideal candidate must be:

to maintain a flexible work schedule - Based
in Machakos, with frequent visits to Nairobi - A
person who meets the highest ethnical standards in management, governance,
and fund development - Able
to convey a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the
organization and the not-for-profit sector - Able
to avoids conflicts of interest - Passionate
about providing disadvantaged youth opportunities to succeed - Excellent
writing and communication skills
- A
bachelors degree - Minimum
of 3 years nonprofit management experience - Fundraising
experience in a professional position preferred - Demonstrated
experience and confidence in asking people to contribute time and money - Familiarity
with computer systems - Strong
written and oral communication skills with an enthusiasm for writing - Ability
to effectively utilize social media, including Twitter and Facebook - Fluency
in English and Swahili. Kikamba is preferred. - Membership
in a professional fundraising association is strongly recommended.
