Vacancy: Farm Care Taker
Location: Ndhiwa, Homabay County, Kenya
Description: The job holder will serve as the care taker of a rural farm and will be involved in coordination and control of the farm production activities and farm infrastructure and casual staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate farm activities from planting to harvesting including pest control, weed management, field cultivation and post harvest practices.
- Ensure that irrigation is done as required and controlling how much water to irrigate and at what intervals.
- Ensure that spraying is done promptly and develop spray programs.
- Oversee and coordinate scouting and ensure that required reports are given on time.
- Supervise other employees working on the farm
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum of a diploma in agriculture or horticulture
- Self driven and a team player
- Have basic irrigation experience including irrigation equipment like the water pumps
- Fluent in Swahili and English, knowledge of luo is an added advantage
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in farm care taker
