: Oxygen8 East Africa Limited is a subsidiary of Oxygen 8 Group, which was established in the year 2000. 



The Oxygen8 Group has a turnover of £90 million p.a. and has three divisions, namely:


  • Corporate Solutions: enable a Corporate’s interaction with its customers via mobile phones using SMS, Voice and Online services

  • Payment Solutions: enable mobile payment solutions, covering delivery, billing, applications and content

  • Carrier Solutions: enable carriers to interact intelligently with consumers and provide high performance analytics

Position Description: The Country Manager will be the key representative of Oxygen8 East Africa in Uganda. The Country Manager position will involve working to manage operations, develop business and increase profitability of Oxygen8 Uganda. 


This job requires someone who enjoys a client facing role and the challenge of growing the business.  


 


As a Country Manager, there is also the opportunity to travel and to really get to know the culture of Uganda. 


The Country Manager will report to the General Manager East Africa.Country Manager Responsibilities


  • The Country Manager will be responsible for managing all operations within Uganda. This involves taking responsibility for profit, revenue, cash and quality targets.

  • The growth of the customer base of Oxygen8 Uganda through concerted interactions with prospects and conversion of the same.

  • Agreeing annual budgets and producing a detailed annual business operating plan as well as monthly, quarterly or annual targets for revenue, profits and cash.

  • A key part of the role of Country Manger will be to produce business performance reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.

  • Country Managers are expected to recruit and manage staff, including performance monitoring, and possibly mentoring and training.

  • The role is client facing and so daily contact with clients is a big part of a Country Manager’s position, therefore the ability to communicate effectively is essential.

  • Identify tradeshows and other business functions to keep abreast of developments in the marketplace, to find potential new business, and to market company’s end-to-end solutions

  • Contribute to the overall business development strategy in conjunction with company directors.

  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development

  • Establishing and maintaining key departmental performance indicators

  • Participate in the development of corporate strategies for the long term prospects of Oxygen8 Uganda.

  • Interactions with local investors and shareholders to establish congruence in strategic goals.

  • Alignment of Country specific objectives with Group ideals.

  • Establishing a business network with key players in the various sectors within which Oxygen8 Uganda is operational.

  • Efficient project management, ensuring establishment and adherence to deadlines and acceptable levels of performance by all key project personnel.

Skills & Requirements


  • Technical acumen in the assessment of systems; understanding of critical telco-related capabilities;  

  • Experience in the telecommunication sector, especially in VAS would be an added advantage.

  • Must be educated to degree level or higher, preferably with some financial qualifications or training – a solid understanding of budgeting and financial planning is essential as this role involves agreeing annual budgets as well as producing financial reports.

  • The Country Manager position requires a strong understanding of how a business operates and successful candidates will have a proven track record demonstrating their understanding and business acumen.

  • General management experience is essential for working in this position.

  • In a Country Managers position, you need to have excellent networking skills.

  • The Country Manager needs to be able to deliver the highest standards of customer service.

  • The ability to recruit staff and monitor performance.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, including people-management, leadership and both written and verbal communication skills.

  • To effectively manage operations, the Country Manager needs to have extensive experience in the mobile industry.

  • Must be familiar with computer software programs e.g. Word, Excel etc.

Salary Structure: The successful candidate will be offered a monthly base salary.
