Job Title: IT Sales Manager
Reports To: GM – Business Development
Job Summary: Guide the team that is charged with a product line contribution as a business unit. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company.
Job Location: Nairobi
Type of Hire: Kenyan National
- Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
- Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
- Driving a solution set across development teams primarily Business Development, Consulting and Product teams through market requirements, product contract, and positioning.
- Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
- Working with the research part of the business to figure out new products or services
- Doing studies of the company’s competitors to find out their weaknesses
- Working with the sales people and helping them to have what they need to increase sales, such as visual aids and training
- Designs items that help to show the way the company’s products and services can help a customer
- Supply the sales teams with the most current research and marketing information
- Developing and writing a business plan for the company that includes details of their products and services, the forecast for sales, price ranges, lists any special features, and develops the promotions and sales advertising needed to market the company’s product lines.
- Analyzes all of the partner relationships for the company’s product lines, and keeps a record of how well they all go through reports given to him by his crew.
- Build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on industry experience and contact with customers and prospects. Must enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.
- Must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. Work with the business development team to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.
- Serve as the internal and external evangelist for product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in BA / Computer Science; MBA in Marketing preferred
- 6+ years of software marketing/product management experience.
- Ability to lead a team.
- Knowledgeable in technology.
- Ability to travel to customer and non-customer sites
- Demonstrated success in defining and launching successful products.
- Work history must demonstrate similar scope of work
- Fluent in English (reading/understanding, spoken, written)
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
