
The Fellow will support the execution of an innovative pilot to test the cost-effectiveness of technology-facilitated impact data collection, funded by some of d.light’s most cutting edge impact investors. The position will report to the Senior Manager for Social Impact, based in New York City, USA.
Responsibilities will include:
• Contribute to survey questionnaire design and help input questionnaires into electronic modules.
• Support data management and analysis.
• Support the supervision of household survey work, including spot checks on enumerators for quality control.
• With guidance, coordinate training session for enumeration teams.
• Liaise with d.light Kenya Marketing team; technology service providers (such as Kenya-based call center); and with local enumeration team.
• Support preparation of progress reports for Global Partnerships team and funders.
Qualifications
We are seeking a talented, young professional or graduate-level student who is passionate about d.light’s mission. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, thrive in a fast-paced, innovative work environment, and have experience working in a multicultural team. Key requirements include:
• At least a bachelor’s degree—but graduate degree coursework preferred—in a social science, public health, economics, business management, or similar field.
• At least 2 years of field-based research experience, including survey design and working with enumeration teams; ideally in Kenya or elsewhere in East Africa.
• Fluency in English (required); fluency or professional proficiency in Kiswahili (preferred).
• Strong quantitative data analysis, management, and reporting skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with the Progress out of Poverty Index preferred.
• Professional self-presentation.
Duration & Level of Effort
December 1, 2014 – April 30, 2015
Expect roughly 2 days/week of work Dec – mid-February and full-time mid-Feb through end of April.
Compensation
Stipend for the entire period, including local travel expenses and incidentals.
