The goal of the project is to support the development of more effective and accountable Somali government institutions. The Communications Specialist will conduct and coordinate project communication activities, and will ensure that project staff and partners understand and implement the project communications strategy and adhere to communications guidelines.The position is contingent on funding.Lead the design and delivery of the program communications strategyDevelop content supporting program outreach through digital, visual and text platformsEngage with partners to support their communications efforts as well as contributions to overall project outreach strategyProvide required communications inputs to project reportingRepresent IREX publicly and support its organizational developmentBachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or related field preferredMinimum 5 years of experience working on international donor-funded projects with responsibilities for communications, outreach campaigns, and media engagementProficiency with social media, mobile platforms and multimedia content requiredExperience in Somalia and demonstrated understanding of the context requiredOutstanding verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills requiredStrong command of English language is requiredDemonstrated leadership, integrity, and versatilityGo to http://www.irex.org/careers and click on Current Openings.
