The Pragma Corporation Job Vacancy in Kenya : Senior Economic Policy Expert

The Pragma Corporation, a US based private international development consulting firm, is seeking for Senior Trade Promotion Expert candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded RFP entitled “East Africa Trade and Investment Hub (TIH)”.   The project’s goal will be to spur transformational economic growth in East Africa, including through trade and investment, by promoting regional integration and trade; expanding African capacity to effectively access and benefit from global markets; and encouraging U.S. companies to trade with and invest in Africa, excluding oil and extractive industries. TIH success will witness increased intra-regional and international trade resulting in economic growth that contributes to poverty reduction, strengthens the region’s resilience, and reinforces regional integration.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Master’s degree required, strongly preferred Ph.D. or equivalent in economics, public policy, international trade, trade law/policy, political economy, or related area (minimum required is a Master’s degree in one of these areas);At least ten years of relevant experience, five of which shall be in or on developing countries, preferably in Africa;Strongly preferred at least five years of experience (strongly preferred over five years’ experience) analyzing, implementing, and working to improve trade policy and global competitiveness in developing countries, preferably in Africa;Strongly preferred At least three years of experience (strongly preferred over three years’ experience) managing and coordinating policy improvement and implementation activities considering stakeholder buy-in consensus, advocacy for reform, and institutional change management; Strongly preferred experience serving in an advisory capacity to high-level government officials on trade policy and global competitiveness issues;Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with institutional and private sector partners and stakeholders in a multi-country setting;Level IV equivalent of English writing, speaking, reading, with good communication skills ;Ability to use the latest ICT technology and computer,  software programs, including regression analysis and general equilibrium models;How to Apply
