Project Coordinators – Kwale & Kilifi CountiesThe Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) is a national organization founded in 1983 by women in middle and senior management levels in the media prior to the United Nation’s Third World Women’s Conference held in Nairobi in 1985.AMWIK is registered under the Societies Act as a non-profit membership organization for women journalists from the print, electronic media and other areas of communication.Its membership comprises of employees of various media houses, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other institutions as well as independent content producers.AMWIK is working towards promoting an informed and gender responsive society in Kenya and Africa.In 2012, AMWIK implemented a community awareness project on the Constitution targeting 10 women and youth groups through community radio listening sessions in Kwale and Kilifi Counties respectively.In the phase two of the project, we are seeking to recruit a Field Project Coordinator in Kwale and Kilifi Counties respectively to support the project implementation.The Project Coordinators (One in each County) will be responsible for facilitating implementation of activities that are in tandem with the project goal, and monitoring the monthly project milestones for the next eight months.Liaise with the Secretariat for the purpose of carrying out community awareness on women participation in devolution through radio listening.Visiting the radio listening groups within the project area to monitor and follow up on project progress and challengesCoordinating and mobilizing participants for community public forums as directed by AMWIK secretariatWork closely with the local County authorities and community opinion leaders on community participation in County decision-making platformsMobilization of partners and identified community groups for participation in County public forumsPreparation and submission of monthly work plans and feedback concerning the project to the AMWIK SecretariatDocument best practices and challenges facing the project with recommendations to AMWIK SecretariatAny other assignment/s as the supervisor may assign
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements:At least a Diploma in Social Work/Community Development from a reputable institution of higher learningAt least 2 years of work experience within the NGO sector or Community Based Organizations in the preferred project areas.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with significant experience of working with women and youth groupsAbility to mobilize diverse groups of community members for public forumsExperience in advocacy, partnership-building and networkingStrong facilitation skills including excellent organizational and time-management skillsExperience in monitoring and evaluation and capacity to produce quality, timely reportsCommitment to human rights & gender equality, and an understanding and application of rights-based approachesIf you possess the necessary qualifications and experience, send your application and detailed CV to AMWIK through:P.
