Our client in the hospitality industry in Kenya is currently looking for a Kitchen Steward.
This is a short term engagement of 3 months.
Reports to: Stewarding Supervisor
Duties & Responsibilities
- Meet grooming standards of the branch.
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment and space.
- Clean and sanitize all food storage areas, walk in fridges, freezers, ovens, freestanding hot and cold boxes and dry storage cupboards.
- Clean and sanitize loading dock, rubbish containers and all rubbish bins from food production and services areas.
- Store all cleaned articles and equipment in the correct areas.
- Remove stains from china and cutlery as required. Polish chafing dishes for banquets, BBQ functions and prepare carving stations as required.
- Ensure all access and traffic areas are clear and clean.
- Keep all equipment in the stewards’ area in good condition.
- Report any breakdowns in equipment to the Stewarding Supervisor.
- Report and/or take action on any equipment breakdown or safety issue relevant to your work area.
- Adhere to relevant Workplace Health and Safety standards and Food Safety Hygiene standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Be holders of a Certificate in Housekeeping from a recognized training institution.
- Have a ‘hands on’ approach to all stewardship service and to be able to lead from the front to ensure quality, presentation and consistency according to hotel standards
- Have at least one (1) years’ experience in a similar position
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well in environments with time constraints.
- Sound knowledge of hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen and possess discipline to enforce those standards.
