SECURITY ADVISOR

SECURITY ADVISOR (JUBBALAND – 1 POSITION)Ensure the safety and security of Diakonia staff and property in Somalia, including partner organisations that Diakonia works with. The job holder works in close collaboration with the Program Coordinators, Country Manager and the Regional Office.· Liaise and coordinate close protection operations with host country, UN and other organizations, as necessary, to enable implementation of necessary security arrangements for the security, safety and wellbeing of Diakonia staff.· Conduct security risk assessments and monitor threats to staff, recommending mitigation measures and implementation strategies and provide risk briefings on any close protection concerns for official travel or daily activities· Monitor close protection equipment and ensure minimum equipment requirements are purchased, maintained and deployed in accordance with relevant policy.· Develop and monitor the implementation of security contingency plans.· Assess and monitor local security conditions, identifying security trends and advising FCA personnel on security issues. Identify gaps in existing capability and recommend amendments where necessary.· Maintain office security by conducting physical security inspections of facilities, including the security plans for new office spaces or compounds. Monitor and evaluate office physical security measures and conduct security surveys of installations and facilities implementing security arrangements.· Evaluate air, land and sea emergency evacuation possibilities and recommend appropriate action.· Determine accessible areas, maintain tracking systems and coordinate an emergency response system.· Ensure that fire prevention devices and fire-fighting equipment are available on the premises, maintain fire evacuation plan and conduct fire drills and training as necessary.· Advise Diakonia implementing partner organizations on improving security of office and guest house premises as well as improved security procedures for movement.Key Skills and Educational Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences – Sociology, Management or other relevant field of study.· Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management and/or Monitoring and Evaluation.· A minimum 4 years relevant experience preferably in Non Government Organisation Security Management environment· Proven experience of working in a conflict/ crisis environment· In-depth knowledge of security management and risk management.· Ability to plan, conduct and review trainings, workshops, seminars.· Good interpersonal, networking, coordination and planning and organizing skills· Analytical mind with good report writing skills and a keen attention to detail· Basic financial skills; and budgetary skills.· Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlinesShould you be interested, your application needs to include a covering letter indicating why you want to join Diakonia, a detailed CV highlighting relevant experience, details of current and expected salary, a daytime phone contact, email address, and the names of three professional referees by close of business ****Friday, 26thDecember 2014.****All applications should be sent to****MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS*****Only short listed candidates will be contacted.*
