World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Development Officer, Foundations. Under the direction of the Foundation Relations team, Senior Director and Deputy Director, the Development Officer, Foundations identifies, cultivates, solicits, and manages the stewardship of foundation donors and prospects, working toward achieving World Wildlife Fund’s annual foundation fundraising goal of $20M+.Ensures stewardship of grants in assigned portfolio, working with Program and Program Operations staff to coordinate, develop, write and edit required reports and updates, including ensuring compliance with donor requirements and guidelines.Writes, edits and coordinates concept notes and proposals for assigned projects and donors, ensuring compliance with foundation interests and guidelines and promoting coordination across programs, program operations, and other foundation relations and development staff. Coordinates with Program Operations to develop budgets and budget narratives to submit with concept notes and proposals. Supports the development of large, complex proposal in teamwork with Senior Development Officers.In close partnership with Foundation Relations and Program staff, takes responsibility for raising funds in relevant program areas, and develops fundraising and cultivation strategies for assigned prospects and donors. Implements and manages strategies toward the successful management of portfolio, and contributes to the development of departmental and donor strategies.Makes cultivation and solicitation visits and calls to foundation prospects, including accompanying program staff, as assigned by the Senior Director and Deputy Director, Foundation Relations. Coordinates preparation of research and briefing materials for own visits, or for executive, program, and/or other development staff.Monitors trends in giving and integrates findings into fundraising strategies. Meets regularly with assigned programs and keeps abreast of programmatic developments for application in fundraising strategies and donor relations. Advises program staff on cultivation strategies for foundation donors. Researches prospects, develops cultivation and solicitation strategies for assigned portfolio.Performs other duties as assigned.Internal: Regular interaction with WWF staff across departments and levels. Collaborates with Program Operations on financial reports and proposal budgets and budget notes. Works in close collaboration with an eight-person Foundation Relations team.External: Regular correspondence, telephone contact, and meetings with donors and prospects.A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.Position requires a minimum of four years of demonstrated success in grant proposal writing or fundraising from foundations or other institutional donors, or a combination of programmatic and fundraising experience.Knowledge of development practices and techniques is required.Knowledge of conservation and/or international development issues is preferred.Experience with donor/CRM databases (such as Raiser’s Edge) is a plus.Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% required.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing and editing skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlinesAbility to be adaptable, flexible, and responsiveExcellent organizational abilityStrong attention to detailComfortable with complex budgets and logical frameworksIntercultural communications skillsTeam playerPlease visit our careers page and submit an on-line application.Submit cover letter and resume to
